10 Ways To Lower Your Food Bill
Although the government refuses to admit it, food costs are going up and they probably will continue to go up. If you’re feeling the pinch, here are some ways to save money:
You’ll be less likely to buy things you don’t need if you shop after a meal. A full tummy equals a fuller wallet.
Have a list and stick to it.
Usually, the store’s own brands taste just as good as the name brands, and they cost a lot less, so give them a try.
Save the flyers you get in your mailbox. Look for the grocery store coupons and clip them.
Buy fewer convenience foods. You pay extra for that convenience.
Before buying any bulk item, check the unit price and compare it to a standard size package of the same brand. Sometimes the bulk items costs more per unit.
Shop at a farmer’s market. You’ll spend much less for fruits and vegetables.
Technology is not always our friend. Watch the prices on the cash register scanner to be sure they match the real price of the item.
Buy fruits and vegetables in season. It costs more to buy imported produce.
Bring your lunch to work. It will save you money, time and hassle.
